It Started With My Mom
CraftWorks started with a simple request from my mom. She makes art — paintings, crafts, handmade pieces — and wanted help getting her work online. I figured it'd be easy. Costa Rica has plenty of artisans; surely there's a platform for this.
Turns out, there isn't. Not really. The big marketplaces exist, sure. But they're generic. Built for scale, not for artists. Your work gets buried under thousands of listings, your name becomes secondary to the product, and there's no sense of who you are as a creator.
So we built what Costa Rican artisans actually needed.
My mom's art deserves to be seen. So does the work of the ceramicist in Sarchí, the woodcarver in Nicoya, the textile artist in the Central Valley. These aren't generic products — they're pieces of Costa Rican culture, made by real people with real stories.

Every connection to CraftWorks is encrypted with TLS. Your data is never transmitted in plain text — not your login, not your messages, not your browsing.
Hashed Passwords
We never store your password. It's hashed with bcrypt before it ever touches our database. Even we can't read it.
Anonymous Browsing
We hash IP addresses with SHA-256 for analytics. We never store your real IP — only a one-way fingerprint that can't be reversed.
Zero Payment Data
We don't collect credit cards, bank accounts, or payment information of any kind. We are not a payment processor. Transactions happen directly between you and the artisan.
Private Messaging
Our in-app messaging auto-redacts phone numbers and email addresses from messages. Buyers stay anonymous to sellers until they choose to share their identity.
No Ad Trackers
No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics that follow you across the web. We only use essential cookies for your session and preferences.
