1. About CraftWorks
CraftWorks ("we", "us", "our") operates craftworkscr.com — a showcase platform connecting Costa Rican artisans with people who appreciate handmade goods. We provide the digital storefront; transactions happen directly between buyers and artists.
2. What We Provide
- A public marketplace listing for verified artisan profiles and products
- Artist storefronts with product catalogs, images, and descriptions
- Privacy-first in-app messaging between buyers and artists
- Account management for sellers (product listings, profile settings)
- Favoriting and browsing features for visitors
3. What We Do NOT Provide
CraftWorks is a showcase platform, not an e-commerce processor. We do not:
- Process payments or handle money transfers
- Ship, deliver, or store physical products
- Mediate disputes between buyers and sellers
- Guarantee product quality, availability, or pricing accuracy
- Provide refunds, returns, or exchange services
4. User Accounts
To sell on CraftWorks, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and the accuracy of your profile information.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Contain fraudulent, misleading, or inaccurate information
- List mass-produced, imported, or non-artisan products
- Violate these terms or applicable laws
- Remain inactive for extended periods without products
5. Seller Responsibilities
As a seller on CraftWorks, you agree to:
- Only list products you personally handcraft or create
- Provide accurate descriptions, prices, and availability
- Respond to buyer inquiries in a timely manner
- Handle your own transactions, shipping, and customer service
- Comply with all applicable Costa Rican laws and regulations
- Not use the platform for illegal, fraudulent, or deceptive purposes
6. Buyer Responsibilities
As a buyer or visitor, you understand that:
- All transactions are between you and the artisan directly
- CraftWorks is not a party to any purchase agreement
- You should verify product details directly with the artist before purchasing
- Payment methods are arranged directly between you and the seller outside of CraftWorks
7. In-App Messaging
CraftWorks provides a private messaging system for buyers and sellers to communicate. When using messaging:
- Phone numbers and email addresses are automatically redacted from messages to protect user privacy
- Buyers remain anonymous to sellers (displayed as "Buyer #N") until they choose to share their identity
- Messages are stored securely and encrypted in transit via HTTPS
- Administrators may review message content for moderation purposes, including the original unredacted text
- You may not use messaging for spam, harassment, threats, or any illegal activity
- Abuse of messaging may result in account suspension or termination
8. Reporting & Account Actions
Both buyers and sellers may report accounts for violations including but not limited to: fraudulent listings, misleading product descriptions, harassment, spam, or impersonation.
Reported accounts are reviewed by our team. We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate accounts found in violation of these terms. We do not mediate disputes between buyers and sellers, but we will act to protect platform integrity.
9. Data Security
We implement the following security measures to protect your data:
- All connections encrypted with TLS (HTTPS)
- Passwords hashed with bcrypt — never stored in plain text
- IP addresses hashed with SHA-256 for analytics — your real IP is never stored
- No payment information collected or stored
- No advertising trackers, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics
- Essential cookies only (session, favorites, language preference)

10. Content & Intellectual Property
Artists retain full ownership of their product images, descriptions, and creative work. By listing on CraftWorks, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display your content on our platform for the purpose of operating the marketplace.
You may not copy, reproduce, or use other sellers' content without their explicit permission.
11. Platform Integrity
We reserve the right to:
- Remove listings that do not meet our artisan-only policy
- Follow up on flagged profiles or reported content
- Modify or discontinue features of the platform
- Update these terms with reasonable notice
12. Limitation of Liability
CraftWorks is provided "as is." We make no warranties about the platform's availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for any damages arising from transactions between buyers and sellers, including but not limited to product quality, delivery issues, or payment disputes.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Jose, Costa Rica.
